  1. CERTIFICATE IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM: NQF LEVEL 1

This qualification has been designed to help students understand the skills and knowledge needed to work in the sector and to develop practical skills in preparation for employment or progression in education. Students with this qualification will gain an introductory knowledge of the tourism industry, enabling them to understand the nature of tourists and tourism and core skills such as customer care in order to promote tourism. Students will also be able to select a possible pathway or sector in which they can begin to apply specific skills in a tourism context.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners may enter this qualification if they have been in Grade 9 or the equivalent thereof

Enter through the mature age/recognition of prior learning, which includes formal, informal and non-formal learning and work experience.

  1. CERTIFICATE IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM: NQF LEVEL 2

This qualification has been developed for those at a junior level in the tourism and hospitality industry and qualification will assist with the regulation of people entering the industry. The qualification provides a solid industry related foundation, availing opportunities for   individuals entering this employment sector.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students may enter this qualification if they have obtained Grade 10 or the equivalent thereof

OR

Enter with a NQF Level 1 qualification from any recognized institution.

OR

Enter through the mature age/recognition of prior learning, which includes formal, informal and non-formal learning and work experience.

  1. CERTIFICATE IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM: NQF LEVEL 3

This qualification will enable qualifying students to:

  1. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the foundation and principles of travel and tourism.
  2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the interrelationship between geography and tourism from an international perspective.
  3. Demonstrate broad general knowledge of the concepts and principles of business operations in travel and tourism and hospitality
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of tourism promotional methods

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners may enter this qualification if they have NSSO/NSSH with less than 14 points.

OR

Enter with a NQF Level 2 qualification from any recognized institution

OR

Enter through the mature age/recognition of prior learning, which includes formal, informal and non-formal learning and work experience. If the learner is able to demonstrate competence in the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes implicit in this qualification the appropriate credits should be assigned to the learner

 

Upon successful completion of the Certificate in Travel and Tourism NQF Level 2, successful candidates can proceed to the Certificate in Travel and Tourism NQF Level 3 of International Training College – Lingua or any other institution

  1. CERTIFICATE IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM: NQF LEVEL 4

This qualification will enable qualifying learners to:

  1. Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of tourism principles.
  2. Perform basic duties under supervision in the field of tourism management, for instance, general front office duties and provide customer care in this context.
  3. Demonstrate the skills, qualities and behaviors needed for effective performance in the tourism workplace.
  4. Provide an understanding of the business and tourism operations environment and a foundational knowledge of computer literacy skills to enhance employability in the tourism environment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners may enter this qualification if they have Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSO)/Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate higher (NSSH) with less than 20 points

OR

Enter with a NQF Level 3 qualification from any recognized institution

OR

Enter through the mature age/recognition of prior learning, which includes formal, informal and non-formal learning and work experience. If the learner is able to demonstrate competence in the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes implicit in this qualification the appropriate credits should be assigned to the learner

  1. BACHELOR OF TOURISM MANAGEMENT: NQF LEVEL 7

This qualification is a three (3) year degree with multiple exit levels. The first year the student can exit with a Diploma in Travel and Tourism, NQF level 5, the second year the student can exit with a Diploma in Travel and Tourism, NQF level 6.

The purpose of the Bachelor of Tourism Management is to provide graduates with information and skills within an interdisciplinary tourism environment to be able to demonstrate evidence of independent cognitive and applied research skills. The students will be prepared to enter both the public and private tourism sectors as entry-level non-professionals. They will be able to utilize and apply critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques within a tourism development and management environment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 20 points to be admitted to the 3-year degree programme.

Applicants who have obtained a minimum of 14 points in NSSO/NSSH or the equivalent thereof:

Enter through a flexible learning path – mature age/prior learning with 3 years relevant experience in various fields in the world of work.

The purpose of the qualification is to build on the undergraduate work, it equips candidates with advanced knowledge, expertise, and strategic skills required in this dynamic, multi-faceted sector. The qualification provides qualifying learners with a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge base; as well as theory and methodology of tourism management that enables them to demonstrate initiative and responsibility in an academic and professional context.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements to the Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree (Honours) NQF Level 8 shall be a Bachelor of Tourism Management degree (NQF Level 7) or equivalent, obtained from any recognized institution.
