Diploma in Paralegal Studies NQF Level 5

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

The Diploma in Paralegal Studies level 5 has been designed for students with an interest in law but who will not become either attorneys or advocates in private practice. It focuses on the basic principles of law in combination with the skills that a paralegal needs to work with in the field of law and commerce.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary/Higher (NSSC O/H) with 25 points in 6 subjects or the equivalent thereof/ or
  • an accredited NQF Level 4 Qualification

PATHWAYS TO FURTHER STUDIES

Students who have completed the Diploma in Paralegal Studies Level 5, may proceed with the Diploma in Paralegal Studies Level 6 or enrol for the Bachelor of Arts (Law) or Bachelor of Commerce (Law) or any other legal related qualification. Students will receive credits for modules already completed.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Paralegals can find employment in:

  • community based advice offices run by community organisations or NGO’s
  • a government department or a non-government organisation
  • Labour Law consultancies or for trade unions ed-nederland.com
  • a Legal Practitioner or Legal Firm
  • a banking, insurance or other corporate environment
