The Diploma in Paralegal Studies Level 6 builds on the Diploma in Paralegal Studies Level 5 and provides more complex focus in paralegal studies.
It equips the paralegal to provide support functions in law, firms, legal advice offices, the Department of Justice, various functions in insurance companies and other entities in the commercial sector.
The legal knowledge can be used to uplift communities or assist ordinary citizens with basic legal advice on an informal basis. Paralegals assist lawyers in preparing cases. They also carry out administrative functions, and may on occasion undertake preliminary legal research work, under the supervision of a lawyer. This program will help students discover the challenges offered by a career as a paralegal. It will also provide them with more than just legal facts and theories. Students will have the opportunity to study substantive, procedural, and paralegal skills courses and apply theory into practice.
